the best bet is to run the automatic analysis for the acc. I know the '88 version and and the '95 version of the test but not yours. Ask your mechanic the procedure. It is just a matter of pressing some buttons on the acc. It will show the number of failures and then the specific failure-in code. My guess would be that either one or both of the little motors are bad on your system-about $100 a motor. If the motors are bad, take out the ash tray, reach in and pop out the acc, then remove the glove box or air bag. This will give you reasonable access to the motors. Three screws hold a bracket to the body and the two motors are on that bracket. They come off together. Removing the dash gives you plenty of working space, but is a small pain to remove. Through a little logic you can determine which motors controls the temp and which controls the direction. The motors are identical.
