You certainly can bring your car to Australia. I think you will find the shipping to be suprisingly economical as well (compared to storage anyway.) Typically two cars go in one standard crate. You can arrange things yourself, but unless you can find someone else with another car to ship it's probably worth contracting with a company who is experience in such things. At least going into the UK the importation duty is largely at the discretion of customs which is a problem when bringing in vintage cars of an ambiguous value, but shouldn't be with a modern Saab. I know in the US there are various options of importing a car for a duration of time based on a temporary job or travel. I once saw an Audi S3 over here using such a pass. If such options exist in Oz they would avoid much of the trouble of import duties and registration and such. Again, I imagine a shipping company could point you in the right direction. Interestingly, US cars are fairly uncommon in Oz because they have to be converted to RHD!
