I had thought of doing this years ago, but for some reason never looked much into it. After reading the procedure on your site (and having had to replace the mirror due to wear and tear not long ago), I decided to give it a go. Very easy to physically do, presuming you have the right tools anyhow. The tricky part was finding a source for power without bringing it up from the fuse box. I wired into the positive leads going to the swivel map light, and for ground, just put a ring terminal under one of the bolts nearby. Works like a charm, and looks great!

I don't have a sweet Valentine-One yet, but I figured with all the extra power I've been adding, it's a wise idea to throw my former top of the line Uniden back in, it's better than nothing! I think it's thinner than the Valentine, as I only lowered the mirror 3/4" and I have plenty of space for the detector.

The only hitch was the thickness/lowering amount of the mirror. I first tried 1" (using nylon spacers), and it worked great, but I could not get the left side of the cover to stay in place. I fiddled with it for some time, then finally came to the realization that the cover was running into the base of the mirror support arm. Going from 1" to 3/4" drop gave me the needed clearance and it snapped right in.
