wire is used. I have used the Bougicords (7mm?), Jacobs 8.5mm 'Energy Core', and am now using Kingsborne 9mm wires. I noticed an improvement when I put the Jacobs in (no other changes) replacing some year and a half old Bougicords.
The only reason I got 9mm, is because IPS had a special deal on them and I didn't think too far ahead. Now I'm somewhat regretting it, as it's nearly impossible to find any wire separators which will hold the darn things! They look great and work great, but next time I will stick to 8mm I think... what the heck though, I was buying new Bougicords every two years, these Kingsborne are the same or even slightly less money, and lifetime warranty silicone with BERU ends on them. Good stuff.
As I think Steve C mentioned before (right, Steve?), on the 9000 with the APC either under the dash as in my '87, or under the seat as in '88, interference really isn't an issue. You can have some pretty crappy wires and I think still get full boost, though I don't think any of the wires I've mentioned are crap. Those of you with an APC in the engine compartment though, specifically the c900, seem to have reported big problems with anything except Magnecore or Bougicords..
YMMV
