I was looking at the front of the 9000 the other day and was trying to figure everything out...
The car is a 93 9000 CDE with auto tranny.
I noticed a line that comes out of the transfer case/torque converter of auto tranny into the top of the water radiator, then out at the bottom of the water radiator and into another seperate radiator below the water radiator. It then came out of this and went back into the auto tranny.
So why the heck does it go into the water radiator? Not enough cooling with the seperate radiator.
Also, it looks like the people before me used this banjo line at the top of the water radiator to flush the tranny. Either that or it leaks, because the connection below has some crud on it! Can the tranny be flushed with this line?
