How the boost pressure is set all depends on the philosophy of whomever made the software, and (naturally) on how much they know about Saabs and Saab gearboxes.

Generally speaking a high boost pressure early on will give nice overtaking ability in high gears as low rev torque will be high. But that is for "standard" cars. The same principle in a modified car will render a car that is 1) more or less impossible to drive in gears 1-3 and 2) dramatically reduced gear-box life span...

In my car (that has nothing whatsoever to do with Abbott by the way) I have limited boost in 1st and 2nd gear (1st gear is actually "stock"). From 3rd gear and up I have 1,3 bar at lower revs (18,8 PSI), max boost 1,5 bar (21,5 PSI) at 4000 rpm, and then boost tapers off to 1,17 bar (almost 17 PSI) at 5500 rpm. Standard software has max boost set to 1,08 bar (15,6 PSI) around 1800 rpm, which then tapers off to 0,68 bar (9,8 PSI) at 5500 rpm. Or, if the car is equipped with "heat plates" 0,82 bar (11,8 PSI).

So it does feel a bit sluggish at lower revs (LOL...) and when boost really kicks in around 4k it takes off like "a bat out of Hades" (to quote a test drive article of the 9000 Aero).

So what you're experiencing MAY be completely normal, or it MAY be an indication that something is wrong. Why don't you get a real boost gauge, get back to Abbott and ask them what boost levels they've set in their software and at what rpms. That way you'll know if it's working properly.
