Gerry
that the Velcro (hook and eye tape) might have saved the CD changer by letting it fly across the boot was meant in a light-hearted way! The CD changer in the Carlsson and in my current 9000 are mounted on the left side (looking forward), to the left of the boot floor that lifts up, with self tapping screws. Not sure if this goes to the outside directly. I will have a look when it is light. I haven't had any water come in. Both were installed professionally.
As to the effects of the crash: car a write off. I unclipped my seat belt, opened the door and stepped out on to the central reservation without a scratch. No whiplash. Although my seat was bent back at 45 degrees (bent, not ratched) as I effectively accelerated backwars into the seat with many G. The motorway came to a rapid halt at 0830 in the morning and the rep behind me, who was quite a way back, didn't realise that all the traffic was stopping and drove straight into the back of me. After I stopped, I saw him coming up fast (and I think he was on a mobile phone!.) I engaged first and drove towards the central reservation which was wide and grassy, but he still hit me and pushed me 30ft forward at 45 degrees and sideswiped the car in front. The boot was pushed over the n/s/r wheel which locked it solid. There are some pictures here. http://www.geocities.com/gavin_c_short/9000_Carlsson.html
Apologies for them taking a long time to load it was my first attempt at scanning pictures in and posting them on a web page. If you think there isn't much damage follow the red pinstripe along the bodywork which should be horizontal!
