ie both are ZF-4HP-18. The filter is double wall fine mesh (like re-usable coffee filter) cylindrical in shape LxD=3"x2" make sure the O-ring is place at the base of the filter. No gasket is required.
The downside of ATF drainage is the fact that you get 50% out only. Some will redo another drainage a couple of days later after the first drainage, thus having 75% fresh ATF. If you are using regular Dextron II/III this method is cost effective but if you are using full synthetic, it can cost 3 times as much.
I plan to install an additional cooler/filter this summer with parts from

since it is by the far the most costly repair in you car, keeping ATF clean and cool is helpful.
ZF-trany get hot, just look at the darkish color of the ATF. I did an ATF change on a 98 Corolla after 100KKM, the ATF (original) was red and clear ...
