Running a DI outside the engine is a risky business - it can destroy the DI. The oil is a bad sign - the DIs usually fail by the oil leaking out of the reservoirs. But the oil you see may be from engine oil leaking past the valve cover gasket.
Remove the DI, and flip it over (plugs facing up). You'll see that the part that covers the top of the spark plugs is actually a molded plastic piece held on with about a half dozen screws. Remove the screws and lift off the plastic piece. You'll see the four DI coils - whitish plastic with oil in them. If any of these are cracked and leaking, then the DI is shot. If any of them is out of oil, same. Look at the circuit board that the coils are mounted on - any burn marks?
Unless the coils look good with plenty of oil and the circuit board is in good shape, then assume the DI is bad.
I don't know of the best place to get another DI - hopefully others can answer that.
