the squeaky wheel gets the grease... Posted by bryan [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Re: Vibrating Seat...Standard or Optional?, Saabgirl, Mon, 12 Mar 2001 17:54:48 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
and the boot soon follows, or so the saying goes. Regardless of how low the price you got the dealer down to, nobody put a gun to his head to take your money. If he did damage/bend the wheels installing a tire, then he is knowingly compromising the safety of the car. You might be able to take this tactic in getting it repaired, but it sounds like the only thing this dealer would respond to is a lawsuit, which, for two bent rims/wheels isn't going to be worth it.
That vibration you're feeling probably are the new tires either coming apart or wearing very unevenly and becoming unbalanced (most likely scenario)
when troubleshooting, take care of the problems that you KNOW about first before you can start to theorize why something is behaving the way it is.
And, in negotiations, you can press too much. One hand washes the other...
Playing armchair mechanic, I would start by having the wheels straightened, usually runs about $150.00 USD per wheel to have one straightened and refinished, less if you're not too picky about cosmetics, and I would also guess that your tires are trashed by now, so you'll need a couple of those as well. You might try used, but I doubt you'll do any better, or find anybody willing to part with only two wheels.
