Brake? CV? Driver? Other? NOISE NOISE NOISE!!!

89 9000S 5sp, 150K miles, ABS.
Help! I'm experiencing an intermittent noise from my front end (actually, I intermittently DON'T experience this noise). This began just a few hundred miles ago. I had pulsing brakes before from my first do-it-myself brake job, so I replaced the pads and rotors at all four corners. Even so, the noise continues, although the pulsing is gone (pretty sure the left front rotor was warped right out of the box -- new rotor, no problem.)
I believe I did the brakes correctly: carefully lined up rotors so they were on straight; applied what I thought was enough (not too much) brake grease to backs of pads; greased slide pins; cleaned everything; adjusted rear e-brake setting. As I said, brakes are FUNCTIONING perfectly.
So, could this grrrrrnk, grrrrrrnk, grrrrrnk noise be a CV or inner driver issue? Doesn't seem dependent on turning the wheel in any particular direction. CV boots are good, replaced 50K ago and I checked them when doing the brakes. Noise seems most prominent when coasting, but continues with brakes applied. Gets more noticeable at lower speeds. Sounds more metallic from outside car, like skreeek, skreeek, skreeek.
Could I have missed something when doing the brakes, or not cleaned up well enough/too well? Any ideas would be much appreciated!
