It is worth bearing in mind that they are just a gimmic. They are not in any way plasma bulbs.

Many high-end manufacturers (MB, BMW etc) are now using gas discharge headlamps. These produce their light by ionising a gas, xenon, in the same way a camera flash does. This inevitably produces more light than standard bulbs. It also requires several thousand volts to strike (start), and a few hundred to run, and as such, can't be a direct replacement for your current bulbs. They require large power sullies to run them.

OTOH, these 'blue' bulbs are just tinted incandecent bulbs, which use a hot filament, just like all the other bulbs in your car. They are not in any way special.

Some people swear they are brighter, and some of them may be brighter than some standard bulbs, but there's nothing in them that justfies the cost.
