Well as you all may know, I was having a problem with my 88-9000 Turbo last week. It was a sound coming from the engine bay that sounded like a dragging muffler. I took the car to a place here in town that services Mercedes,Volvo, Jaguars, and sometimes SAABS. Either how the problem was the crank shaft pulley. It was the cause for the horrible sound coming form my car. They replaced it with a new one ($180) ouch!! and then I told the guy that I had it replced 2 yrs/15,000 miles earlier for a cost of parts+labor= about $250. I was then told that the part they just removed was a USED part and I had gotten taken for a ride. He said that he could tell it wasn't a new part because it had YELLOW paint on it. Says that most salvage yards place yellow paint on used parts. I was pissed about it and thought, If I were still living in New Mexico I'd tell that idiot what I thought of him for cheating me. Too bad I live in South Georgia now. Either way, had I gotten the new part from one of the SAAB NET sponsors I could have saved a little on the part price($40-50), but I didn't have the time to really research the problem and wife was not happy with me taking her ride sometimes. I want you all to know that there are mechanics out there that will cheat you if they can. 2 yrs ago I had no idea what to do if my SAAB broke down but, today thanks to the SAAB NETWORK and all that use it. I'm alot more knowledgable about these machines and that won't happen to me again. Thank you all.
