Never mind how to wire up a new O2 sensor...

... how the heck do you get the old one OFF???
I've managed the wiring harness (once I found out how that locking connector works - nice!), but I can't get the sensor out of the downpipe. What hasn't helped is that it appears someone has had a go before me and rounded the corners a bit. I've made it worse with my 22mm ring spanner, for which I've also had to cut the cable. I believe a socket exists for this job, but I couldn't find one.
I thought about a blowtorch, but I don't have one, so I took the car for a fairly hard run to heat things up. Still no joy. It's been soaked in WD-40, pushed, pulled, heated, soaked in WD-40 again, pushed again, pulled again. No joy. The only other thing I can think of is either to dismantle it in-situ with a hacksaw blade (would falling bits damage the cat - integral with downpipe?) or remove the entire downpipe leaving the car immobile while I try to figure it out and hope I don't need to drive anywhere to buy any more tools. And I don't have a vice.
Help!!!
