I posted my response about an hour ago, it went through, I even saw it on the BB! Now it's disappeared..fortunately I copied it into the buffer for just such a contingency..

First off, I'll start with the antenna. I ran the antenna lead to both my Blaupunkt decks, but was not pleased at all with the performance. Now, my Blaupunkt tuners are nothing special, but I also surmised that the extra antenna wire, even though shielded, looping around behind the dash, adversely affected the performance. Further, I didn't need 36+ station presets!! Your Tokyo tuner is WAY better than my Blaupunkt Toronto, though, and also compared to the stock Clarion. Cool, but...

As far as having the Clarion tape and EQ come on when you turn on the Blaupunkt... This is doable, but not without adding a relay. There is no switched power output on the Blaupunkt, just an antenna trigger and amp turn on, neither of which supply enough current to power the Clarion and EQ. What I'd do, is simply splice into the power wire for the Clarion tape (as well as ground, constant power, and illumination) to run to the Blaupunkt deck. You won't be able to turn on or off the stock stuff with the Blaupunkt, but it will operate as it did before. If you really want it to actually come on - well, I can tell you how to do it, it's just more wiring and components.

You may have a problem feeding the Clarion into the Blaupunkt, and running the EQ. As I recall, the pre-outs from the stock tape deck feed into the EQ, thus providing it's signal. If you can determine which wires are the signal wires, you're in good shape. What you'll need to do is cut them and add some RCA connectors onto them. However, all bets are off as to whether the impedance/signal level will create problems. In theory it should work if you can find the preout wires for the Clarion deck.

Worst case scenario, you could buy a new/newer tape deck which already has preouts on RCA connectors, then it would just plug into the AUX in on the Tokyo. You then will need to connect the preouts from the Tokyo, to the preamp inputs on the EQ (which you cut before). Still, I can't help wondering if the EQ input isn't preamp level, but line level. This would make much more sense, as the EQ is a spectrum analyzer, not a power level meter.

So you just want to keep the EQ for the dancing lights? You realize it won't have any effect on the sound? I like gadgets as much as the next guy, but I like for them to actually be useful... :)
