Saab claims the wheel bearings should last the life of the car (though they never say what that life is!). I've had one of my front wheel bearings replaced. However, it only made squeaking noises while at speed of say 30 mph or more. That squeak was not affected by braking, but it was affected by turning. Does yours get louder or disappear if you turn right or left?
Another thing which can cause squeaking is a loose axle nut. Also unusual, and in my case it sounded more or less identical to the bad wheel bearing, except that it was less sensitive to turning.
If the brakes check out fine, and it's not the bearings or loose axle nut, wow I am just about stumped. Have you checked the brake dust shields to make sure that one of them isn't rubbing (though this should give you squeal at all times, not just braking).
Actually now that I think of it, what kinds of brake pads did you get? Some people have reported that certain pads just squeak, while others do not. To help prevent this, it's important that the caliper slide pins are lubed properly. Also, you can obtain some 'anti-squeal shims' at NAPA for a few bucks. These are a stick on rubber type material that goes between the back of the pad and the caliper piston. I don't have them on now, and don't need them, but if it IS the brakes squealing, the can help.
Don't let a dealer or mechanic tell you that it's normal though - a coworker of mine has an A4 with the stock brakes, and they squeal big time. The dealer tells him that it's normal!! Ridiculous.
Good luck!
