if anybody cares, (promised i'd post follow up) i recently had a complete clutch job done on my 87 9000t. when i got her back, the tach neddle bobbed while the car was in gear and tried to stall at every stop sign and light. reverse was also impossible to get without stalling. anyway, after searching myself for disconnected/cracked vacuum lines, the tech who did the job traced it within minutes to the little electrical connection that runs into the side of the distributor. he figured it must have been knocked loose when the bleeding of the hydraulic system at the slave cyl. bleed nipple had been performed. the bad connection was shorting something (can't recall exactly) out and causing the engine to want to die. he didn't have a spare one, so we zip tied it tight, and i'm going to search for one soon. the car runs great now, but does anybody know what that thing is called? he was calling it the "power lead" to the distributor.
