Rear A/C, A/C hoses questions

Can anyone answer/comment on the following:
1.Is 1992 the only year rear air conditioning was offered as an option on the 9K's?
2. Was this option only offered on the "Griffin Edition"?
3. Has anyone converted rear A/C vehicle from R12 to R134a?
I have some leaks on the rubber hose connections.
4. Has anyone had any success replacing just the hoses vs the entire hose assembly. Dealer wants to replace hose assembly for $$$. Has anyone had hose and crimped connections cut off and new hoses & connections hydraulicly crimped (pressed) back on? My plan is to remove the hose assembly and take to a shop to have hose sections replaced. The hoses in the engine bay are easy to access. (What little freon was left in the system has been evacuated.)
5. The suction hoses coming from the rear evaporator is a little more difficult. It has a connection underneath the car about a foot past the engine bay, that can be disconnected. Fishing the tubing piece out through the engine compartment seems an bit tricky. Any tips on getting this piece out?
TIA
