Hi. I just installed a new fan motor that came from gapa.com (PITA changing the squirrel cage fan, but that's another story). Anyway, fan and its housing back in. I got the evaporator core and housing back in. I plugged in all connectors (I think - that's two at the blower housing, one two prong on the blower flap, one four prong for the pressure switch, one four prong to the front of the evaporator housing and two single prongs on some gadget next to the expansion valve).

I thought I should test it before I reinstalled the rest of the components. I reattached the battery and turned the key to "on". The fan came on High as normal. I punched "1" and it did not slow down. I've turned it off/on, pulled out the glove box and tapped on the relays (only a/c relay that I can find is big and red, and has nothing to do with the blower motor - is there another?)

One note: the old fan had been a bad squeaker. Two weeks ago, it got real bad - humming loudly - I now believe the fan was rubbing against the plastic housing because the top bearing in the old motor was totally gone. I fear that this dragging may have over heated something. My niece is using this car and she called me when it happened and I had her pull the fuse.

I'm thinking that the hvac computer in the middle of the dash has issues. Last summer, for no apparent reason, the compressor stopped turning on. The charge was full (134a). I could not get the compressor to come on by shorting any of the wires on the hi/lo press switch. I had to install a jumper and toggle switch between two wires to the aforementioned big red relay. I'm wondering if it partially failed last summer and has further failed now. It still controls the recirc flap and other stepper motors fine.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
