Hi, Aaron----I'll bet the jerky speedo needle is caused by the little transmitter on the trans---it's a little pulse generator, and it's dry---needs to be taken apart and re-packed with grease. This is an easy fix---I think the screws are Phillips---maybe Torx. Get that thing freed up, and you'll be stylin' again----smoooooth.
Hey-------I thought we had gone through this before---use some lithium grease. I'm pretty sure you can do the job----take the pulse motor off the trans---prolly no connector to disconnect it from the car, so just bring it up to the top for easier access---remove the screws which hold the halves together----lube it up real good--once you get the grease in there, you'll feel the difference in how it rotates.
PS----you can cut the wires, and put in a connector like the newer cars have--if you do this, make sure you connect the same wires together--a good way to be sure is to cut them in different places. Good luck.
May do this myself eventually, but haven't noticed the problem at all lately, in fact much less since switching to the manual transmission..
Aaron
