jammed something in my cabin temp sensor, at least its quiet

My cabin temp sensor was making a lot of noise and efforts to lube it with oil or silicone spray did not work. It also did not look like it was easy to take out without disassembling parts of my dash board.
Plan B seems to have worked. I took one of the plastic coated wires that are part of the packaging of every kids action figure and stuck it about an inch into the fan and bent it so it stays in place. No fan spin--No noise. This fan must have an exeptionally weak motor as the lightest touch to the fan blade causes it to stop.
At least this should hold me until I bring the car back in for another warranty repair, to get both covered under one deductible.
Now that I've jammed the fan, can anyone tell if this was a bad idea?
