The Saab hitch is a pricy one, so you may not save much over the cost of roof racks, but I like hanging the bikes off of the back. Nothing touches paint, and you don't have to remember that you have an extra three feet or so above the car. Hitches are also available from Draw-Tite for ~ $150 through 1-800-Hitchit. Then there are lots of bike racks that slip into the hitch receiver.

The hitch itself is another Saab great. Remove the rear towing hook to bolt in the back of the hitch, and there are three threaded holes in the bumper for the front. Took me 10min to bolt it on. Very sturdy, and rated to handle up to 2000lbs.
