Thanks for the message. Any chance you know how many volts come off terminal #31 ... wire 407 from the ACC? That's the question my mechanic keeps asking.

When he applied 12 volts from to the compressor the system works. All aspects of the ACC work... except that the A/C doesn't come on... The ACC reads 0 Faults. The Fuel Injection Unit works fine in terms of fuel injection. The signal from the ACC is just not turning on the A/C. Mechanic says that all relays and switches in the system are working.

When I get back to Halifax I'll post again and see if I can find a mechanic in the region. Thanks. It just seems odd to me that I would need a new ACC or injection unit when they both function... and that the problem cannot be traced. I had the same problem when the A/C "expert" losened the wire on the oxygen sensor.... Not knowing his mistake (not to mention his not labeling the cables he removed) I took the car to the Saab dealer and they charged me 271.00 to tell me that I needed either a new oxygen sensor or a new ACC... I'm sure if they had put in a new oxygen sensor the black smoke would have disappeared... but that wasn't because I needed a new oxygen sensor.. it was because I needed the wire to the oxygen sensor properly connected! and in replacing the sensor they would have inadvertently replaced the wire at a useless and extravagant cost to me. And of course I would never have known that the original oxygen sensor was good. This is what is driving me nuts. The notion of flipping parts in and out of the car instead of finding the actual cause.

I hope I can find a mechanic in Halifax. In the meantime I thank you for taking time to give me advice.
