Yes, I did mine myself. I cut the backing board above seatbelt pillar so as to remove the roofliner through the passenger door. I have a cd 4-door- you may be able to remove whole thing through your back hatch?
Anyway, it is fairly easy to remove- just don't force things.
After removal-the messy part! go outside and peel off remaining headliner- you will be left with a foam residue on the roof board- scrape it off with a wire brush- may take an hour or two! The nice thing is, you can use the car for a week while the headliner is out and you work on it. Buy some new headline at JoAnn Fabrics for $7 per yard in the color of your choice. Buy some regular duty spray foam adhesive NOT HEAVY DUTY (IT WILL SOAK THROUGH) -you can find at a professional auto supply 3M is the best. Cut your pieces accordingly and glue in. Mine turned out nice with just the two little cut-marks that tell-the-tale. Good Luck. $300.00 is too steep for my budget!
