Click on my name to see my past posts, then on my "Two-Part Epoxy Paint" Feb. 7, 2001 post to go to a past thread on painting garage floors.

(1) What brand of paint did you select and how well did it work.

Epoxitech. Which was what was being sold (then, don't know about now) at Home Depot. Actually when I first went to HD for paint, HD was selling Litex, so that's what I bought. But I procrastinated so long (years) that by the time I opened the Litex, it was way beyond the shelf life and no longer OK. So I had to go back to HD and this time they were selling Epoxitech instead (don't know why and neither does Litex, who knows how HD purchasing people decide), so that's what I put on.

BTW, I later called Litex about this, even talked to a very helpful chem engineer there, and he actually sent me a fresh batch to replace the 3 gallons that went bad due to my own fault of waiting too long. I was impressed.

One thing the Litex engineer told me is that their product has better UV protection than Epoxitech. This could be relevant if some part of your floor projects beyond the garage door and gets exposed to the sun, as in my case. I notice that this part has faded somewhat after a year or so.

(2) How long to cure? I.e., how long before the cars could return?

I think the instructions said seven days. Or was it 72 hours. I don't remember. Whatever it was, I obeyed strictly.

(3) Have you had any lifting where the tires rest?

Yes, front tires only. But this could be because I applied it too thinly. I stretched the square feet per gallon beyond the product spec, tring to get away with two gallons instead of three. Bad move.

(4) Did you use muradic or ascorbic acid to treat the driveway first?

No acid etch for Epoxitech, as well as for Litex, if I remember right. But needed to get the floor as clean as possible. I spent an ENTIRE DAY just cleaning the floor, washing and rinsing multiple times. Dry overnight. Paint next day.
