I have an '87 900S and '91 9000 turbo. There is no comparison. The 9000 handles better, brakes better, accelerates better (OK, so the 900 is non-turbo, so that's expected), and is more comfortable to drive. It's also far better in the snow. I don't know if you live in snow country, but I've been disappointed in the 900's snow performance. My VW rabbit was better. The 9000 is tremendous, however. My wife has an '88 9kt which we drove from southern Maine up to Burlington Vermont in a snowstorm a couple of years ago. There were cars off the road all over the place. One car had bounced side to side as it went along a bridge (I'll bet he had to change his underwear after that one - it was a long drop down). Anyway, bad snowy roads, and the 9000 was sure-footed. After we got home, I realized that the Bridgestone Blizzaks were well into their "all-season" tread and were due for replacement. My point is - even with worn out snow tires, it does great in snow.
