Same thing happened to me. The original bracket was pop-riveted to the fan shroud. I was going to put in sheet metal screws, but I was worried that they would touch the radiator (there's not a lot of room there) and do some damage. What I did was remove the fan shroud from the car and drill out the holes in the bracket and shroud to the next larger pop-rivet size. The pop rivets only protrude about 1/8 of an inch, so there is no interference. Alternatively, you could use machine screws from the back with nuts and lock washers.
