Look at my Saab battery pic (with covers removed, btw ... I just discovered that the electrolyte level is barely covering the plates and is about an inch below the bottom of the plastic tab ... hmmm, maybe that's why I've been getting 9.x volts at startup ... time to get distilled water from grocery ... so much for "maintenance-free").
The negative battery "cable" (more like a stiff rod, actually) comes out from some godknowswhat plastic housing and is sized just right to reach the negative post. No flexibility whatsoever. Any replacement non-Saab battery has to have its battery post EXACTLY where the Saab battery has it's post. (Or at least within a millimeter or two.)
Comments? I think it has been mentioned that the DieHard 78 has its posts more centered, so I guess that puts it out of the question. From the Optima pics, it didn't look like the posts where anywhere near where the Saab posts are. I suppose that leaves Interstate 34R as the last hope...
