I chose not to mount the box to the parcel shelf, as I wanted to still be able to remove it completely in a flash. I also opted to skip the spare tire well box, as I wanted to keep the spare tire.
I thus purchased a 12" Shiva subwoofer, which works great in a one cubic foot box, and has an incredibly long linear excursion, such that this single 12" has 50% more output than the two 12" I had before. Much cheaper than the retail 12" subwoofers, too. There's also a 15" version available now. http://www.adireaudio.com
Anyway, link to my subwoofer pictures below. I lost the trunk light in the process, so I wired up another one on the other side. :)
