I agree with Ken. Rapid blinking is usually a sign of a blown bulb, caused by an unbalanced or less-than-normal load on the flashing relay. Are you seeing other strange things when the left turn signal is engaged, such as a brake or running light on that side glowing dimly? Is the flash rate any different if you press the brake pedal, or if the headlights are on or off?
Check all the bulbs for good contact, and make sure they're the right rating and type. By type, some bulbs have two filaments, but you can stick in a single filament bulb - it will work, but I'll also wreak havoc.
If you get extra lights glowing dimly, or the flashing rate changes when the brake pedal is pushed, or the rate is significantly different headlights on or off, then have the ground wires at the rear lights checked. If you have a bad ground to chassis there, instead of current flowing to ground, it finds sneak paths through other bulbs and relays.
