The Air Mass Meter (AMM) is frequently cited as a source of cold start problems, though I have not experienced this on either of my (DI) 9000's. The AMM is on the rubber/plastic tubing that goes between the air filter and the throttle intake. It's the thing with the electrical connector. At least that's where it is on my cars.
The other thing you might want to check is the condition of the throttle housing and the throttle position sensor. I posted a link a day or to ago to the Townsend site which deals with cleaning and adjusting the throttle on the older 9000's like yours. The subject was something about high idle. Simply cleaning out the throttle housing with carborateur cleaner may solve your problem.
