There is a rubber connector that connects the car side of the shift linkage to the tranny side of the linkage, it's located between the engine and the firewall, if you have some one move the shift lever while you look in that area, it's easy to spot. It has 2 bolts thru it and what happens is that the rubber is sealed to the metal side plates on the coupling, this comes loose. if you watch it while someone is moving the shift lever you can see it seperate. Replacing it is easy, but you have to get it ,I believe from Saab. Not expensive. Good luck
