First thing I would suspect is the thermostatic switch in the radiator. On my '89 it sits just in front of the exhaust on the radiator. I pierced the insulation (which is weak from the heat already) with some needles and shorted those out together. If the fan then runs (ignition on) you have found your problem. If it doesn't run, you can start checking the relays which sit behind the glovebox in your car.
