I would say that general attention to maintenance is the best indicator of condition. Basically anything can go wrong at that point, but the cars tend to hold up well if maintained. The suspensions in the 9000s are more durable than the 900, but by 195K, there should be documentation of replacement of bushings, at the very least. Also look for multiple oil leaks on the bottom of the engine and tranny. If it is dry, either it was recently cleaned or it has had good attention to maintenance. The turbo in the '86 was not water cooled, unless the car has had an upgrade, so listen to it on spool-up to assess the condition of the bearings. A soft whine is OK. If you haven't driven 9000's, you might see if your local dealer has a later model in the lot to take for a drive, so you have something to compare it to.
