tripod joint installation

Hi, I'll be replacing the whole right front (passenger-side) cv works this weekend. I have the entire axle assembly with the sealed outer CV on one end, the axle in the middle, and open ended inner-driver/tripod joint on the other end. I feel pretty confident with everything except connecting the tripod joint. I'm confused as far as using cv grease on the tripod. Where does it go (over the tripod joint itself in that boot, or is it something the tripod will connect to?), how much goes in (halfway, to the top, a whole tube, 15grams or what-not?), and when should I do it (before I get it near the car, or just before I'm ready to install the clip around the boot?)?
Thanks much for your directions

Also, I just had a set of Kumho ECSTA Supra 712s (205/55VR15) put on my car. After 25,000 miles on Pirelli P6000 Summers, thought I might try something different. I thought they might be a little extreme for a Saab at first, but they only seem very mildly harsher on small impacts, and I like the grip. It's been only 100 or so miles, so we'll see how they hold up...
