Car stalled while doing 65 mph.

I have a 1990 Saab 9000 CD turbo. The car ran great until yesterday. I was traveling on the highway doing about 55 when I accelerated to 65 to pass someone. At that point someone pulled in front of me and I had to let off the gas (didn't need to use the brakes). When I went to accelerate again nothing happened. I looked down and saw the check engine light on and realized that car wasn't running. I shifted into neutral and tried to restart the car, but it wouldn't fire. I pulled to the side of the road and the car wouldn't start. The engine was cranking, but wouldn't turn over. I ended up waiting about 15 minutes and the car finally started and I had no further problems and the car ran fine. Any ideas what may have happened? Do Saabs set "codes" when the check engine light comes on (something a computer can use to diagnose the problem)? The temperature gauge on the car was where it always was so I don't think it was an overheating problem. FYI, it was a warm day (75-80 degrees) and I did have the AC on at the time (not sure if this matters). Any help is appreciated.
Mike
