I agree with GM, I think the place you bought the wheels from got the offset wrong, I can't see how 215/45/17's should rub, they're just not that wide. Can you get them to verify the offset, and if it's wrong exchange the wheels for you? If you ordered new wheels specifically for the car, everything should be correct. I'm not the worlds' biggest fan of wheel spacers, but I would think they will solve your problem in this case, as you probably only need a few millimeters of additional clearance.
