Works fine from the outside, hard from the inside. See that before.
The inside handle actuates the latch by pulling on a stiff wire - almost like a piece of coathanger. The problem is that you lose a little motion in that wire, and the latch only half unlatches.
I've seen two problems here. The wire runs through some plastic guides. Sometimes a guide detaches or breaks - now there is some lost motion in the wire. In the other case, things just wear over time.
The solution is to remove the door panel and shorten the wire. Remove the torx screws holding the pull handles, at the map pocket, and around the door release handle. Pop the bottom of the door out, and lift the door panel up. If you have the rear door fans, watch out for the wiring.
With the inner door panel off, close the door and then pull on the wire and see if that makes the door open smoothly. If so, you need to shorten the wire slightly - take the slack and play out. I do this by putting a kink in the wire. I just take a needle-nose pliers, and find a section of wire not near a guide. I bend it down a little, then move a quarter of an inch or so and bend it up. This puts a little "V" in the wire that takes some of the play out. You don't want to overdo it, or the door will want to pop open.
