but a better fit would be actually 225 45s. The 235s clear the sway bar fine but the rim is mighty close, so close in fact that should I use rim flange weights they will hit the bar so I use stick-ons and have about 2-3 mm clearance. The panhard rod does allow a small amount of latral movement but I haven't seen any evidence of wear or rub. Bottom line is I don't think you need fear the tire so much as the rim. 215 40 17 will give approx 871 revs per mile, your car is set up for tire wheel that results in 843 revs. This is about 30 + revs per miles difference and has been known to upset the TCS computations, why I don't know since the TCS doesn't know the real difference across the road. 235s run 30 - revs per mile. I don't have TCS and wheel spin becomes a problem so I elected to use a larger tire to reduce wheel spin. with + revs, you just rev faster burn more fuel relatively from town to town. Also you will record miles driven about 3-4 percent faster. Yu will work the TCS system a little harder because of torque application and resistance from the frictional rolling resiistance with the smaller wheel/tire. You may want to consider all this if you haven't already leapt.
