Happy Solstice Everyone!
As some of you may or may not remember, I've had this slight skip/hesitation/balking in my 94 9KCSET(86Kmiles) at all speeds (seems more noticable with ACC on). Boost is good (ie boost gauge readings look normal), but power seems slightly off due to skip. I haven't been able to solve this problem--it's frustrating! I'd like to do some performance mods SOON, but I want the car to be purring before I start tweaking the HP! So. . . . . . .
I've come to the conclusion that it's a complete 'feel in the dark' problem. I took it upon myself to fix the problem, and here's what I've replaced/done: new O2 sensor, throttle position sensor, DI cassette, NGKBCPR7ES plugs gapped @ .039", new silicone vac lines, fuel filter, air filter, de-gunked APC solenoid, & cleaned throttle body. A lot of stuff and $$!!!
None of this made a difference, well, it runs like a top except for the skip. I gave up and just took it to the local 'independent Saab repair shop' in town, and he told me he didn't want to get into it. He was worried he wouldn't be able to find anything and wouldn't be able to charge me for his labor. He said 'take it to a dealer.' Dealer is 2.5hrs away!
My remaining ideas are a stretch, at best:
*AC compressor is possibly going bad--could it cause this skipping?
*APC solenoid is bad (expensive to replace!)?
Are either of these legit possibilities? Maybe the dealer is my best bet--I know they'll charge me and arm and a leg! Any suggestions as to how to proceed would be MUCH appreciated!
