It is actually surprisingly easy (MUCH easier than trying to figure out how to spell surprisingly) to change out your strut inserts. To make the job easier, I suggest buying a large pipe/tubing cutter or an exhaust tailpipe cutter (looks like a pair of large pliers with a chain of blades attached) available at any auto parts store. Place the strut assembly in a vise and cut the tube 3-5 mm (or whatever the directions say) below the top. Once you cut through, pull on the shaft and the insides should just come right out. Be careful, as this process is mildly messy and the shock oil may be pressurized. The directions will also specify what size a hole to drill in the bottom of the strut tube. To seat the new insert into the old strut, use the machine screw provided to place tension on the insert and pull it into the tube. You may find it helpful to tap on the top of the insert to get the knurled part to seat correctly. Tighten down, and they will work like a charm!!
