Steering 'correction' in turns

'87 does some weird auto-correcting when turning. Patient sez this happens at all speeds. Reminds me a bit of a sticky/non-zeroed actuator. Best description is: when in a turn, the steering wants to nudge back to zero -- I push, steering pushes slightly in opposite direction. Happens in either direction. Overall, car pulls to left (probably not related). Is there an electronic/electrical zero on the steering system? Thanks for any help.
