My son has been fighting a boost problem- consistantly low but well above basic boost - just low by I panel gage and manifold abs gage. He tried all the tricks in the book but nothing helped and no ISAT codes. Saturday, I was driving his car, nice day, windows down, and he mentioned that he didn't hear the relief valve any more on dump or shift . AH HA we started looking there. took the valve off and it looked fine, diaphragm ok , holds vacuum and pressure, doesn't leak, then we measured the spring force - instead of the normal 9.5-10 pounds it was only 4.5 pounds. He took it apart (hammer!) found the spring had failed. In all my years I never heard of this type failure. anybody else? Put a new valve in and WOW - 18 pounds before cut back! (New valve measured 11 pounds on spring)
