up is atttributed to the IAC valve. these are little motors that cycle back and forth, sometime blowby will foul the rotor armature and they get sticky. These should be removed and completely cleaned until the damper is quite free. You should not have had to change the setting on the butterfly valve. What this tells me is the IAC is sticking open and allowing too much bleed air or you have another fault and you are in the LIMP mode-(There is a limp mode of 1500 rpm which in the event of a FI control failure(LH 2.4)in the IAC circuit so you can get home.) Usually the IAC is good for about 1200 revs.
The damper is a decelleration device to prevent the butterfly from closing too rapidly. With the old IACs(slow response - 150 ms response) they would not respond rapidly enoughtha nd stalling occurred the damper should be adjusted out so that it requires approximately 4 seconds from contact with the butter fly adjust screw until it seats on the stop. The micro switch is a hold over from the 900 cars and part of the turbo relief system. when it makes, the relief valve opens.
The Bosch unit is the TPS - Throttle Position Sensor There are several switches in these, one Full open is enrichment switch and the one just at close is the Idle signal to the computer for fuel cut off to prevent afterburning.
