Wheel bearings

I have a loud humming, circulating noise coming from the front end of the vehicle that I am 99% sure is at least one if not both wheel bearings. I hear this is an easy DIY fix (as mentioned a few posts before this). My question is, how affordable are these bearing assemblies, and how complex is the procedure to replace them. Can they be replaced with used units?
