It's a PITA, but...

...you can do it with perseverence. It is located to the rear of the block 6 or 8 inches (just a guess) below the intake manifold. Removing the old sender isn't hard, but installing VDO's dual sender (gauge and idiot light) is difficult. The body above the bolt head is larger, thus you can't use a box-end wrench or socket to tighten it. This makes it tough because you can't see and it is in a marginally accessible area.
My '91's screwed on painstakingly ¼-turn at a time with an open-end wrench, but this wouldn't fit on my '95. I ended up buying a 17mm crow's foot attachment (Sears has them) for my ratchet, and that did it. You'll need this, a long extension, and a ratchet if your car's configuration is like my '95 Aero. I think the '93 is more like the '91, however, as the block was changed in '94 if I recall.
A VDO single sender (guage only, no idiot light) would likely be relatively easy, even though you can't see what you're doing and must work by feel. a ratchet and deep socket (probably 17mm) should do it.
