a timing pulse of 5 volts that "samples" the resistance affected voltage and reports every second after an initial "wait" period of approximately 5 minutes. You may check the resistance before you replace it. Construct a nomograph to find the correct resistance. use the abscissa of -40 to +45 (x axis) degrees and the ordinate (Y axis) of 43000 and 1000 ohms respective. The slope of the curve is linear. Pick off the point and value for your ambient temperature then measure the sensor. If yours is out of whack by say 500-1000 ohms, then replacing of the sensor is properly in order.
