Hi there,
My alarm has been a trail of tears, but I keep working on it. They're not bad units, and if I read the diagrams right, the 93's actually can do some cool things. (Mine is a 91 9kT)

DISABLING THE ALARM:
My alarm was disabled by removing the connector, and shorting the two larger-guage wires together with a ScotchLok connector. This was done by a highly reputable indie here in Chicago, so I figure the shorting step was necessary. (My guess: these two heavier wires must power the ignition. In any event, try removing your alarm's connector, and seeing if it starts. If not, you know what needs to be done.)

REPLACING THE ALARM:
This is actually a very easy thing to do. Check Saabnet's sponsors and buy used/new depending on your budget. The ECU's are a snap to replace, and the alarm's ease of use makes it an easy 10% insurance discount.

LOCATING THE ECU, etc...:
The ECU is under the dash on the right (passenger's) side. All you need to remove is that black fuzzy trim panel under the dashboard, Phillips screwdriver to back out the center-pins on the plastic mushrooms that hold it in. (Replace them by placing the mushroom, then shoving the center pin in till it's flush)

The ecu is at the absolute LOWEST and FURTHEST AFT corner of the dashboard, it sits on a neat little shelf and simply slides in and out. Mine is about palm-sized, yours might be a bit bigger to accomodate the larger connector. (Up to 93's we had 17-pin connectors, 93+ is a 22-pin.)

NEAT POSSIBILITIES:
This part is speculative, and based on my reading the diagrams at http://www.alldatadiy.com.

The alldatadiy site has some editing problems and shows the 22-pin alarm wiring on my car. Wrong-o, but definitly right for yours. If I'm not crazy, it should be pretty easy for you to ADD a wireless remote control if you want to. (JC Whitney's $39 unit looks like it'll work) You'll have to do some fiddling about, but you should be able to have wireless alarm and wireless unlocking, though THAT might not happen on the driver's side door without a modification. (I'm working on that right now!)

So, if your car's working (starts, battery's not being killed by the light show, etc.) I'd recommend replacing the alarm's ecu. If you're at wit's end and living way out in the country (SAAB's are still stolen 'round here) then yank the ecu and figure out what--if anything--needs bypassing.
