I know what you mean - If you've never seen one, how do you know whether it has one or not? There are probably a lot of other odd-looking things under a Saab bonnet too, any one of which someone could tell you was a turbo and you would have to believe them.
Well, I scoured my Saab 9000 links for a photograph of a turbocharger, and the best I could find is on a page on Quasi's site (see below).
The turbo is visible in the top photograph just to the right of centre. It is bolted to the bottom end of the exhaust manifold, and the exhaust downpipe comes out of the left side of the turbo (as looked at from the front). The compressor part of the turbo is the shiny bit on the right with the lovely shiny silver pipes (very nice, Quasi!) feeding right, then back round the engine. It's not a great picture of a turbo, but then it probably isn't meant to be and the turbo is only incidental.
