Although you inadvertently posted to the wrong board, I will mention a few things I believe to be true of the 900 vaccuum system:
The ventilation switch is entirely vaccuum powered. No electronics here. If you're having problems with the ventilation positions, usually it's hose related. Reattaching the leaking vaccuum hose to the switch may not eliminate your problems if the switch itself is leaking.
I thought I'd heard that on turbo models, the vaccuum system on the engine can easily influence the ventilation system if it's out of spec. Perhaps the check valve that was mentioned was intended to be the PCV check valve on the engine itself, between the valve cover and intake manifold? Apparently these can fail over time, and create lots of headaches under boost. Search either database for info on how to diagnose this.
